DSW Presents: From One Country to Another

This double-bill of evocative new dance closes the DSW season with two powerhouse choreographers. Lee Su-Feh’s title work is a solo performed by DSW’s artistic director Davida Monk. Lee, a Vancouver-based choreographer, incorporates the prairies, the poetry of Mary Oliver, and the music of Calgary-based composer Allan Gordon Bell, into a solo study of landscape. The second piece, Monk’s own Dream Pavilion, features dancers Helen Husak and Walter Kubanek, and is inspired by the netsuke art of Japan – miniature sculptures of exquisite detail. Seattle-based musician Bill Horist performs a live score on prepared guitar. Tickets are $18-$25. To purchase advance tickets visit us online at www.dswlive.ca. From One Country to Another runs April 4 – 6, 2013 at 8pm at Dancers’ Studio West Theatre in Calgary. DSW: never leave unchanged
